Our much anticipated Summer Camp coming in 2011. Call for details!

Musical Fingers, Musical Toes

This hilarious, fun and interactive class is designed with one intention: to get kids excited about music! Participants learn a variety of basic musical concepts through songs, movement, games, stories and short lessons. In the interest of keeping our young students actively engaged, each class is broken down into four 15-minute blocks.

Block 1: Warming up and energizing!

The first block is dedicated to singing songs (old favorites and some new ones too!) with fun actions, movement, vocal call-and-response and interactive musical games.

Block 2: Play along!

Ear and rhythm training- Here, students are given the opportunity to play a variety of percussion instruments, and are exposed to different sounds, time signatures and rhythmic variation. Activities include clap-back games, marching band and miniature "jam" sessions!

Block 3: Something new!

This is the "music lesson" portion of the class, where we focus on the piano keyboard basics. Subjects include "note of the day" (matching the musical alphabet with keys on the piano) finger numbers, proper piano posture, simple note values, melodic intervals and ear training.

Block 4: Story Time!

The final block is reserved for story time, where we invite our friends "Millie the Story Queen" and "Shaky-Shaker Bear" to read a book to the class. Each week we select a new story that involves music or rhythm and students are invited to sing, play or clap along.

Through this unique course, our goal is to create a safe and positive learning experience for your child. He or she will develop a strong basic musical foundation, while building confidence and most importantly, having a ton of fun!
