Piano

The Royal Conservatory of Music method of learning can be an important part in the development of excellent piano playing. It is one method we use to train our students. Is classical music not your cup of tea? Want to learn the most recent Coldplay tune? We cater our lessons to your learning preferences and use our knowledge to build on that.

Jean Poynter

Jean started leaning music at the age of 4. She majored at the Langley Fine Arts Program for piano and French horn. After graduating from McGill University with high distinction, Jean attended the Glenn Gould School of music where she has completed her Artist Diploma. She has performed with L’orchestre Symphonique de l’Ile, the Musicians of the World Symphony Orchestra, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, and many other ensembles. She has also taught piano and theory at the Montreal Academy of Music and French horn at L’Ecole FACE (Fine Arts Core Education).

Kasia Young

Graduating with a Masters Degree in Music from the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, Kasia brings to Footprints Music and Learning over 20 years of teaching experience. A warm and patient teacher, Kasia moved to Toronto 15 years ago where she has been an accomplished teacher in numerous music schools. She has taught individual and group lessons to students of all ages and all levels of piano. Besides preparing for RCM exams, festivals and music competitions, Kasia teaches composition and counterpoint, and helps each student develop their own personal style. Whether you wish to learn pop, classical, jazz, or contemporary, Kasia is a teacher who can help you achieve your music goals!
Every student is unique, and Kasia customizes each lesson to focus on the specific needs of the individual. Kasia keeps a healthy balance between the creative part of the lesson and learning the craft itself, and incorporates ear training and sight reading into each lesson. Working for years in the digital editing of the Symphony Orchestra in Poland for radio broadcasts, and also performing in various group ensembles, she brings vast experience to the art of teaching.
The enjoyment of making music can be contagious, and highly addictive. As believed through the centuries, music, not only as an art form, but as a science, helps students in many areas of life and keeps them mentally healthy and happy. The journey through each level and every lesson is a fun and satisfying adventure, both to the student and for Kasia. She looks forward to meeting you!

Both our daughters take lessons at Footprints Music and have really enjoyed it. With their music school closing last year and then their piano teacher going on maternity leave, we thought about not taking lessons this year. Footprints music is so close to Yonge and Eglinton which makes it really convenient for us! We’re very happy we didn’t have to miss a year of piano lessons - Steven Weiss
