Policies and TOS

Our Responsibilities

  • To offer quality education with experienced and friendly staff.

  • To ensure students have the same time, day and teacher each week.

  • To allow our students to learn with/on quality, working instruments.

  • To provide a video or Zoom/virtual lesson in the event of any absence at any time.*

  • To maintain a clean, comfortable and stress-free learning environment.

  • To provide digital materials for the lessons (Not books)

  • To provide at least 1 recital per year (all family/friends welcome! Covid permitting!).

  • To match the best teacher to the student based on experience, character, and goals.

  • To provide current information and opportunities outside of Footprints Music such as RCM or other musical pedagogy material and info, performance and/or competition opportunities.

  • To tailor individual lesson plans and goals specific to the student’s objectives.

  • To provide timely makeup lessons at the mutual convenience of our students and instructor.

Our Students’ and Parents’ Responsibilities

  • All cancellations and rescheduling of lessons must be done through info@footprintsmusic.ca, not directly with instructors. Extended absences or lateness may result in loss of time and/or instructor and are subject to cancellation fees.

  • To give 30 days' notice to stop a service, withdraw a student from lessons (or change classes) when paying month to month and accept that no refunds will be issued in the event of term payments.

  • To acknowledge that lesson times/days cannot be held for longer than 2 weeks of absence.

  • To accept that a substitute instructor with the same or similar qualifications may be necessary occasionally.

  • To acknowledge that lessons are always transferrable to siblings and friends. Refunds are not possible unless there is a billing error.

  • To notify us if we cannot use photos and/or videos for promotional material or our website.

  • To add a credit card for payments. Those payments are due on the first of the month. (And agreement to keep a credit card on file for the duration of lessons) 

  • Payments past 10 days of the payment date (the first of the month) will result in a $35 late payment charge

*Teacher absence may result in a substitute or make-up lesson before the end of June of any given year.

Private Lessons - Missed lessons will result in a customized video lesson.

 

Group and semi-private classes do not have makeup lessons unless the teacher cancels.

 

Lessons may be switched to Zoom due to any illness. A minimum of 2 hours' notice might be needed.

 

Makeup lessons may be granted if the timing is possible. If it is not possible, a customized video lesson will be issued. 

If a teacher misses a lesson, we will give the student a make-up lesson at the earliest convenience.

Make-up lessons must be completed during the current school year (September-May). 

Makeup lessons may not be available during June and cannot be carried over to the next school year.
